Uzbekistan Strengthens Cooperation with the Eurasian Development Bank in the Energy Sector

In April 2025, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a law on the country’s accession to the Agreement on the Establishment of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). As a result, Uzbekistan became the seventh member of the Bank. Within the framework of this cooperation, an official EDB representative office was recently opened in Tashkent, creating new opportunities for deepening interaction and implementing joint investment projects.

Against this backdrop, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan between the leadership of the ministry and representatives of the Eurasian Development Bank, during which promising areas of cooperation in the energy sector were discussed.

During the discussions, the parties reviewed a wide range of issues, including the implementation of joint projects in the energy sector, the development of regional energy infrastructure, and the modernization of existing networks. Particular attention was given to expanding the use of renewable energy sources and introducing modern technological and digital solutions in the industry.

In addition, the importance of attracting EDB financial instruments and technical assistance mechanisms for the preparation and implementation of перспективе projects was emphasized. According to the meeting participants, enhanced cooperation with the Bank will help accelerate the development of sustainable energy infrastructure, improve the reliability of energy supply, and stimulate investment activity in the sector.

The meeting also addressed practical aspects of implementing pilot initiatives. In particular, the possibility of launching one of the first projects in the energy sector with the participation of the EDB in cooperation with SV LLC “Yashil Energiya” was considered. This direction is viewed as an important step in developing partnership in renewable energy and distributed generation.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in further expanding cooperation and confirmed their readiness to continue systematic work on forming a portfolio of projects in the energy sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
