ENERGY SECTOR INVESTORS COUNCIL: GREEN CAPACITY REACHES 11.1 GW
On October 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held an open dialogue in Tashkent with investors in the fuel and energy sector. The event was the first meeting of the Energy Sector Investors Council. Representatives of Global South Utilities (GSU), a partner of Yashil Energiya, also took part in the Council meeting.
Key figures cited by the President:
Over recent years, the sector has attracted 35 billion dollars in investment;
The investor base has grown from 2–3 countries to more than 10;
The share of renewable energy in total generation has reached 31%;
Total green capacity now stands at 11.1 GW.
During the meeting, agreements were signed on 6 major projects worth a total of 4.7 billion dollars. They cover 3,000 MW of generation and 400 MW of energy storage capacity.
By 2030, 22,000 MW of new capacity will be built, raising the share of renewable energy to 54%. Green energy investors will also gain mechanisms to earn income from green certificates and carbon credits.
Yashil Energiya continues to contribute to the development of renewable energy in Uzbekistan.
