Ali AlShimmari, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Global South Utilities (GSU) and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yashil Energiya JV LLC, has been awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Green Crescent of the Comoros.

The high state award was presented by His Excellency Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of the Comoros. The award recognizes Ali AlShimmari’s contribution to the development of renewable energy and the strengthening of the country’s electricity infrastructure.

The recognition followed the successful implementation of a project comprising three solar power plants with a total capacity of approximately 20 MW across Grande Comore, Anjouan, and Mohéli, as well as energy storage systems with a capacity of 16 MWh. The project was financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, implemented by Masdar, and is managed by Global South Utilities.

This marks the third state award conferred on Ali AlShimmari by African governments in less than a year. His contribution to the development of energy infrastructure was previously recognized with state awards from the Republic of Chad and the Central African Republic.

The management and team of Yashil Energiya JV LLC sincerely congratulate Ali AlShimmari on this high honor and wish him continued success, new achievements, and the successful implementation of large-scale projects in support of sustainable development and a clean energy future.
