Yashil Energiya has compiled the most important international industry news.

1. South Africa to Procure 4.6 GW of BESS Capacity

The Republic of South Africa plans to procure 4.6 GW of battery energy storage system capacity in order to improve the stability of the national power system.

BESS enables surplus electricity generated from renewable sources to be stored and supplied to the grid during evening peak-demand periods.

2. All Turbines Installed at Poland’s First Major Offshore Wind Farm

Installation of all 76 wind turbines has been completed at the 1.1 GW Baltic Power project. More than one-third of the turbines are already generating electricity.

The wind farm is expected to produce approximately 4 TWh of electricity annually. This is equivalent to around 3% of Poland’s current electricity consumption and could meet the electricity needs of more than 1.5 million households.

3. Two BESS Projects with a Combined Capacity of 2.76 GWh Are Being Developed in Australia

An important milestone has been reached in the development of the Byellee and Belah energy storage projects in Queensland, Australia.

The Byellee project will have a capacity of 300 MW / 1,160 MWh, while the Belah project will have a capacity of 400 MW / 1,600 MWh. Together, the two systems will provide a total power capacity of 700 MW and storage capacity of 2,760 MWh.

4. Main Contractors Selected for the Teebar BESS Project

Australia’s Teebar energy storage project will have a power capacity of 400 MW and storage capacity of 1,600 MWh. The four-hour system is designed to help reduce peak loads on the electricity grid.

Enerven will carry out battery integration, construction of a 275 kV substation, and transmission line works. Commercial operation is scheduled for the end of 2028.

5. Construction of a Large BESS Project to Begin in Finland

The Vuolijoki energy storage project in Finland will have a power capacity of 125 MW and storage capacity of 250 MWh. It will become one of the largest BESS projects currently under construction in the country.

Sungrow will supply the equipment, while Rabobank will provide long-term financing. With this project, Nala Renewables’ total portfolio in Finland will reach 275 MW / 550 MWh.

6. PPA with Meta Enables $350 Million Financing for Solar Project

Zelestra has secured $350 million in financing for the 203 MW Reclamation Solar project currently under construction in the U.S. state of Indiana.

The solar power plant is being developed on reclaimed land at a former coal mining site. The project is backed by a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Meta.

7. California Allocates $28 Million for Fast-Charging Stations

The State of California has allocated $28 million to expand fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

Under the program, up to $100,000 per DC fast-charging port may be reimbursed. Priority will be given to areas where charging infrastructure remains insufficiently developed.

8. New Hybrid Wind and BESS Project Under Development in Australia

The Balala hybrid energy project will include a wind farm with a capacity of up to 420 MW and a 200 MW / 800 MWh BESS.

The project envisages the installation of up to 60 wind turbines and connection to an existing 330 kV transmission line. The project is currently undergoing a federal environmental assessment process.

9. Cargill Expands Corporate Solar and Wind Energy Procurement

Cargill has signed a 12.6-year virtual PPA covering 87 MW of capacity from the Sweetland wind project. The project is expected to generate approximately 392,000 MWh of electricity annually.

The company will also purchase the full electricity output of the 85 MW Choctaw Fields solar project.

These agreements are expected to reduce emissions by approximately 3.3 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent over the lifetime of the contracts.

Yashil Energiya: Practical Results

JV LLC Yashil Energiya has installed solar photovoltaic power plants at more than 2,000 facilities across Uzbekistan, including social-sector facilities and sites belonging to various sectors of the economy.

According to the results of the first nine months of 2026, the total volume of electricity supplied by the company to consumers reached 216 million 428 thousand kWh.

The company operates in the areas of supplying green electricity under PPA agreements, developing electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and implementing small and micro hydropower projects.

Global experience demonstrates that the integrated development of solar and wind generation, energy storage systems, PPA agreements, and EV charging infrastructure as a unified energy solution is becoming increasingly important for improving the reliability of electricity supply and enhancing energy efficiency.
